"Knowledge Work Is Dying—Here's What Comes Next" by Joe Hudson/Thesis: Executive coach Joe Hudson (who works with Sam Altman and other OpenAI executives) reveals what will matter when machines know everything: wisdom work. The skills of emotional clarity, discernment, and connection are becoming the new career currency—and tech giants are already investing in them. Read this if you want to stay relevant in a world where AI can do your job, but can't live your life.

"What the Em Dash Says About AI-assisted Writing—And Us" by Rhea Purohit/Learning Curve: Imagine being afraid to use a punctuation mark because it might make people think you're not human. That's the bizarre reality for writers in 2024, where the humble em dash has become AI's calling card. Read this if you want to be a more discerning reader in an age where the line between human and machine-generated content continues to blur.

🎧🖥 "GitHub's CEO On Getting 15 Million Developers to Trust AI With Their Code" by Dan Shipper/AI & I: GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke has led Copilot to become a dominant player in the coding agent market with 15 million users. In this episode, Dan and Dohmke dive into the coding agent wars (think Windows vs. Mac, but for AI), how GitHub embeds AI into tools developers already trust, and why—despite the rise of “vibe coding”—actually understanding your code still matters if you're building commercial software. 🎧🖥Watch on X or YouTube, or listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Trillion-dollar temple. Anxiety-inducing premiums, ticking-clock diagnoses, and a pandemic hangover have pushed many of us to seize the one variable still within reach: our own bodies. That grab for agency has ballooned the wellness economy to $6.3 trillion, larger than Germany’s GDP and nearly four times the market capitalization of Big Pharma. In her book How to Be Well, journalist Amy Larocca tracks the consumer exodus from crowded clinics to infrared saunas and whisper-quiet spin classes. The boom looks convincingly commercial, yet I think that all of these studios behave like pop-up temples because inside, three instincts find refuge. First comes control: Heart-rate screens blink proof that sweat equals progress. Then self-reinvention: Mirrors let effort rehearse a better self. Finally, belonging: A nod or quick pat on the back binds strangers into a fragile tribe. The ritual costs $99 a month (towels are extra, of course), but people keep paying because it may be the last ritual they trust. And until other institutions offer a stronger liturgy, the wellness studio remains the last ceremony millions are willing to believe in.—Ashwin Sharma
