Info Session: The Masterful Storytelling Course

I am writing with two sorries!

Sorry #1: I’m sorry I haven’t written more for this newsletter recently. There’s a lot more coming soon!

Sorry #2: Every sent a note on Sunday inviting folks to sign up for my course. I messed up the coupon code and, we know, 28 of you tried to sign up and couldn’t. It’s now fixed! I promise. Please try again.

(If that was you, you can get 10% off the course using coupon code EVERY10 at checkout. Register here.)

Since you subscribed to this newsletter, I assume you’re interested in storytelling and want to know how to get better at it. You’ll learn a lot from this newsletter—but if you really want to put it into action, I highly recommend you check out the course. Over four weeks, you’ll learn how to convey your unique value through telling stories.

Masterful Storytelling is fun and, sometimes, intense. And, by the end, you will have a tight, powerful, convincing version of your story: your company’s story, a product story, or your personal story. Then, with honest, friendly feedback from professional mentors and peers, your story will be tested, honed, and ready to help you get what you want.

A Little More About Me

I have spent my entire adult life working with the very best storytellers. I am one of the most frequent contributors to This American Life. Then I took all the lessons I learned from Ira Glass and the rest of the TAL team to create NPR’s Planet Money. That led me to the New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker. Along the way, I worked on many award-winning movies and TV shows, like The Big Short.

I partnered with JP King, the fantastic course designer and University of Toronto instructor, to turn the lessons I learned over thirty years of writing and reporting stories into a live learning experience. And we came up with a course we know will transform your approach to everything you do.

What’s Included in the Course

The course starts with simple steps you can take in less than an hour to get the storytelling process going. (We call this the story seedlings stage).

Then we teach you how to take rough ideas and images and transform them into compelling scenes and moments that land with force.

Then you get to take a bunch of these moments and put them into a powerful narrative sequence to create an overall story–a pitch, a speech, an About Me page–that has exactly the impact you want.

We’ve learned from past sessions that these steps are instantly applicable. For example, our students in the critical fundraising stage said that they were better able to convince investors to fund them after completing the course.

Fernando Parnes, founder of Super.Fans, said “When I heard Adam Davidson was putting together a course on storytelling, I knew immediately that it was something I wanted to be a part of.What I didn’t know was how transformative and powerful the experience of participating in Masterful Storytelling would be. I 100% recommend that anyone with a story to tell take this course. And everyone has a story to tell.”

Ingrid Murra, the founder of Two Front, said, “Thank you so much for putting together such an incredible course! I can’t tell you how thankful I am—suddenly, the complexities of my industry are just CLICKING for investors.”

You’ll have a lot of fun spending three hours a week with a group of like-minded people telling each other stories. You just end up liking each other and looking forward to the sessions.
