AI Foundations: Prompting Is a Thinking Skill
“I could’ve done this myself by now.”
If you’ve spent 20 minutes trying to get AI to do something you thought would take two, you know the feeling. You explain it again. The next answer is longer, but still no closer to what you need. Eventually, you do it yourself—and the next time you need help, you’re less likely to even bother asking.
We spend a lot of time using this stuff, and we still get those answers. What helps is knowing what to do with them. Sometimes we need to explain something it’s missing. Sometimes we ask it to help us figure out what we’re really trying to do. Sometimes we stop because it’s getting us nowhere, and try a completely different way.
In this workshop—which is designed either as a solid foundation if you're just getting started, or a good refresher of the basics if you've been noodling for a while—we’ll show you how we work through those moments.
We’ll walk through the basics of prompting as a way to articulate your intentions and thinking. You’ll use those ideas in a guided planning exercise about your schedule, your day, and what needs your attention, then practice deciding whether the answer is useful.
Every’s Micah Rich will lead the session through a guided weekly-planning exercise. Bring an AI chat tool you can use and be ready to think through your schedule, your day, and what needs your attention. Sharing is optional. No coding experience or previous workshop is required.
